We will accelerate the development of modern Marine pastures and build "blue granaries" to help food security

From May 22 to 24, Tang Renjian, Secretary of the Party Leading Group and Minister of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, investigated the development of Marine fishery and the construction of modern agricultural industrial system in Guangdong, and carried out special supervision and inspection of Marine fishing vessel safety work. 

Fishery is an important pillar industry of Zhuhai's agricultural economy, accounting for more than 3/4 of its output value. In recent years, Zhuhai has introduced a number of hard measures to support far-reaching sea aquaculture and develop modern Marine ranching. Tang Renjian took a boat to inspect "Dehai No.1", the first 10,000-ton intelligent aquaculture and fishing farm with mixed floating body and truss structure, and "Penghu", the first semi-submersible wave energy farming platform in China, and had in-depth exchanges with farmers on the safety performance, cost-effectiveness and industrial application of aquaculture equipment. In Doumen District of Zhuhai City, Tang Renjian learned about sea bass seedling breeding, breeding mode and deep processing in detail. He also listened to reports from the South China Sea Fisheries Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences on scientific and technological innovation, equipment creation and production of modern Marine pastures and the management and utilization of fishery resources in the South China Sea.

Tang Renjian stressed that it is necessary to fully understand the significance of developing modern Marine pasture to ensure the stable and safe supply of food and important agricultural products, adhere to safety as the priority, ecology as the basis and benefit the people, strengthen the top-level design, systematically plan the spatial layout and mode path of modern Marine pasture, take technology, economy and practicability into account, integrate technology, gather departments and gather policies. We will work steadily and step by step to build the "blue granary" of Marine ranches. We will strengthen innovation in the aquaculture seed industry, breed a number of superior varieties suitable for far-reaching Marine aquaculture, accelerate the formulation of standards for aquaculture density and ecological carrying space, explore efficient and healthy aquaculture models in light of local conditions, develop key equipment for far-reaching Marine aquaculture, improve intelligence, information technology and resistance to ocean currents and waves, and actively develop socialized services for fishery production. We will develop Marine catch processing products in a diversified way to improve the quality and efficiency of Marine fisheries. We will strengthen the mechanism building of joint farming and belt belt for the benefit of agriculture, improve and promote modern facilities suitable for small-scale Marine aquaculture for fishermen, and encourage fishermen to participate in the construction of modern Marine ranches by establishing fishermen cooperatives and developing large truss-type and gravity deep-water cages, so as to share more industrial value-added benefits.

Tang Renjian is very concerned about the safety of Marine fishery, especially the ocean-going fishery. He went to Guangzhou Ocean Fishing Co., Ltd. and inquired in detail about the safety management of fishing vessels, crew safety training, implementation of safety responsibilities and formulation of emergency plans. He also had a video link with the crew of ocean-going fishing vessels docking in Fiji port for maintenance, and asked them whether they were equipped with positioning and communication equipment and whether they were equipped with life-saving facilities. He urged everyone to always focus on production safety. Comprehensive investigation and rectification of safety risks, do not risk navigation operations, resolutely prevent accidents. In Zhuhai Hongwan Central fishing port, Tang Renjian learned about the safety management system and implementation of fishing vessels and inspected production safety around the fishing port. He stressed the need to comprehensively strengthen and effectively improve Marine fishery production safety work, in-depth and meticulous investigation of risks and hidden dangers, focus on the rectification in place, improve the basic safety level by upgrading the hardware facilities of fishing vessels, enhance the safety awareness of sailors, strengthen the use of information means, strengthen the supervision team and other aspects. We need to consolidate the responsibility of all parties, especially enterprises, for workplace safety, comprehensively strengthen oversight capacity, improve safety risk monitoring and emergency response mechanisms, and do our utmost to reduce potential risks and losses from accidents.

In Shunde District, Foshan City, Huangpu Town, Zhongshan City, and Doumen District, Zhuhai City, Tang Renjian visited processing workshops and intelligent greenhouses to learn about the development of agricultural products processing and facility agriculture.  We will raise the level of facilities and equipment and improve their intelligence. We will speed up the establishment of a modern rural industrial system and promote the upgrading of the whole industrial chain, so as to increase farmers' incomes and make them richer.
